4-5 Year Old Preschool (Kindergarten Readiness)
In our pre-k program Kindergarten readiness is emphasized, and not only academic goals, but social and emotional well being also. Preschoolers are usually most responsive to hands-on activities, so we have to have fun while engaging in developmentally appropriate practices that foster academic skills, social and emotional health, verbal and written language, cognitive abilities, and fine and gross motor development. We build on the interest and abilities of each individual with child-centered activities guided by an adult. Open ended engaging questions, and activities, are presented frequently so that children develop creative critical thinking skills. We use the Creative Curriculum to guide and assess the development of our students. Our teachers will meet with families to discuss a child's kindergarten readiness, as well as additional observations in the spring. Please feel free to request a conference sooner if there are any concerns about your child, and our teachers will do the same. Our goal is to develop not only good students, but good people as well.
